One of the excursions you can’t miss. If you like adventure, paradisiacal and solitary places, cliffs and above all the sea, this is one of the must-see visits during your stay at Manuela Sea Villa.
The Ruta de los Chorros is located in the last cove of the Caños de Meca beach in the municipality of Barbate. Just below the cliffs of the Breña natural park, one of the most beautiful places in the province of Cádiz. The route begins where the road that crosses Los Caños ends, in the area known as Los Castillejos, from there the path continues under pine trees and cliffs.
Don’t forget to park in one of their seasonal car parks. You can leave your car until 10 pm for about €4 or €5 all day. And when you finish the excursion, when you leave the beach, enjoy a mojito in the area known as La Jaima.
But let’s start with the excursion, the route will take us approximately an hour and a half each way, so you have to leave plenty of time. When you get to the beach you will see that nudism is practiced, although less and less, mainly due to the large number of visitors to the area in summer. Years ago this was an area frequented by hippies, and although you will still find some, they are becoming fewer and fewer.
Depending on how the winter season has been and the effects of the storms and the amount of sand caused by the cycles of the sea, it can be a complicated excursion, perhaps with some risk, due to the danger of landslides, but it is manageable.
When the beach ends and the rocky path begins, you can enjoy the views of large blocks of stone. If you look up you will think that at some point they may fall, but you should not be afraid, walk as close to the sea as possible. You will also see an endless number of seagulls that fill the sky of the place.
When you reach the Chorros route, you will see that the excursion has been worthwhile, for its scenic beauty, the fossil remains and the freshwater waterfall where you can almost immerse yourself in a natural shower. If you dare, you have two beautiful caves to visit, and if you dare a little more, you can reach Cala Verde, a natural environment for the enjoyment of the most daring, but I will not tell you about this, it has to be discovered for yourself.
It is important to bring appropriate footwear. And the excursion should only be done when the tide is low, and you must take into account the times and coefficient of the tides so that you are not caught off guard.
You will surely want to repeat it, it is one of the best excursions in the area and for now not very crowded. You will enjoy it.
