This Italian pizzeria is located in La Muela, a hamlet in Vejer de la Frontera. It is a solitary building located at the foot of a sharp bend in the CA-4200 regional road, about two and a half kilometres from Vejer or Barbate (end of the A-48 motorway – national road N-340) and about 4 kilometres from Conil (exit 30 of the A-48 motorway – national road N-340). It has a first car park just outside the doors of the pizzeria and another larger one about 200 metres away.
It is located in one of the most hidden places in the province of Cádiz, in the middle of nature, surrounded by leafy trees, where the typical atmosphere of Italian films is recreated. When they open at around 20:30 hours, the first Germans are already seated at one of the tables in the three dining rooms or, weather permitting, on the terrace.
Its managers are Italians with more than 30 years of experience, and over time they have become a reference in the area. All the dishes are handmade. They grow their own vegetables in a vegetable garden located at one end of the pizzeria. The pasta is made with whole wheat and spelt flour. The dough for their pizzas is fermented for 48 hours, making it lighter and more digestible. They are cooked in a wood-fired oven.
It is difficult for us to recommend any of their dishes or pizzas, because everything is really good. But for us, the stuffed baskets and the provole are always a must, and some days we have tried the mixed cold meats and Italian cheeses as starters.
For the main course, we recommend sharing a few pizzas between several people, but don’t forget to order the meat lasagna. And if you really like fresh pasta, they have a wide variety to suit all tastes.
For dessert, the classic tiramisu, made in such a traditional way that you won’t be able to resist it. There is an extensive Italian wine list, including the classic Lambrusco from Emilia Romagna.
One of the things that endorse this place is the treatment of its staff, it is exquisite, delicate and attentive.
