This is a new venture of the traditional Venta la Alegria, very close to the village of Sancti Petri. In the same place you can enjoy two styles of food: Mediterranean and Asian. It has its own car park, as well as a take-away service. We recommend ordering by phone and picking up in the restaurant.
In the Mediterranean food, the main classics are: squid with garlic, tuna belly from the almadraba and clams in alegría, or a la marinera style. If you fancy a good fish or a seafood rice dish, don’t hesitate to ask about the fish of the day. Before, and for tapas, we recommend their famous oxtail croquettes, as well as the homemade Russian salad, shrimp omelettes and the cheeks tapa. One of the characteristics of this place is that they preserve all their traditional recipes.
For Asian food, don’t miss the tempura prawns, tuna tartar salad, teriyaki chicken, bao bread and the mature osushi burger. As well as the classic assortment of sushi, maki, and nigiris. If you want to try some of their aromakis (6 pieces), our favourite is the mallorca. They have an assortment of 24 pieces of the chef’s choice, which is highly recommended.
It is surprising how a restaurant always dedicated to local home cooking has incorporated Asian cuisine into its menu, with great success, by the way.
If what you want is takeaway food, we recommend you try the mixed paella (you’ll have to make a deposit for the paella pan), the mixed chicken and seafood rice, or the rice with shrimp and prawns, as well as the chicken in sauce, the potato omelette and the grandmother’s meatballs.
It also stands out for its wide range of homemade desserts, you’ll have to ask because they change every day, but their tocino de cielo is spectacular.
Of course we can’t forget their wine list, although not very extensive, if you like white wine we recommend La Batalla de la Barrosa, a very good wine from the Bodega de Manuel Aragón.
Its value for money is excellent, although as in all restaurants in the area, depending on what you order, a good fish of the day can cost more than 60 euros per kilo.
The restaurant is located on the Carretera de la Barrosa, at km 3.5. For reservations: info@nuevaalegriaosushi.com and telephone 956 49 42 42 11.
