They are located between the port of Conil or Faro de Roche and the well-known Roche urbanisation, a destination for famous people and politicians of our country for years. In the municipality of Conil de la Frontera, province of Cádiz. They are well known among holidaymakers and the local population, as they are very popular when the east wind blows, the feared wind of the province of Cádiz. The cliffs protect you from the wind and make it so that we hardly notice it.
The people of Cádiz and holidaymakers take shelter from the wind in these coves, of great beauty and high scenic value. On days of east wind you must go very early, otherwise it will be very difficult for you to get there and park. There are four car parks available. In summer, they have the famous “gorillas”, unemployed people who will look after your car for a tip.
Next to each car park you will find wooden walkways that will lead you to some stairs to access the beach. You will notice that the path is very pleasant, as you will enjoy the smell of the sea and juniper. The last of the coves, the closest to the Roche Lighthouse, is difficult to access. There are no restaurants, bars or any type of beach bar nearby, so you must be equipped with everything you need to spend a day at the beach. The closest cove with a beach bar is known as Cala del Aceite, once past the Port of Conil and near the Fuente del Gallo.
They are located in the middle of nature, calm, impressive, intimate and surprising and at the same time welcoming, and ideal for freedom and disconnection. Located under the spectacular reddish cliffs of the northern coast of Conil.
In some of them nudism is allowed, the most traditional is Cala del Tío Juan de Medina, which you should keep in mind if you go with your family. Cala del Pato stands out for its beauty.
If you go with children, they should be careful when jumping into the water, as when the tide goes out thousands of rocks appear from the sea, however, this depends on the tides during the summer. Being in the coves is usually uncomfortable when the tide is high as there is very little sand left to spread out your towels and set up your umbrella, so the beach is considerably smaller. When the tide is low, all the coves communicate with each other, and you can enjoy their beauty and splendor.
We recommend visiting the coves at dusk and enjoying the wonderful sunsets, both from the beach and from the cliffs. You will return, there is no doubt about it.
You can enjoy the area with a pleasant bike ride always using the marked paths.
