La Playa de La Barrosa

2 Jan 2025

It is one of the best known beaches in the province of Cadiz. Its kilometres and kilometres of fine sand stand out, up to 8 kilometres in length. It extends from Torre Bermeja on the cliffs of Sancti Petri to Loma del Puerco.

The more than 300 days of sunshine a year in the area allow tourists from different parts of Spain or countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom and recently Norway to enjoy it. It is very popular at weekends.

It has all the services of the blue flag and is listed as one of the best beaches in the south and in Spain. It has obtained important quality distinctions for its environmental management and the Q for tourist quality. Every year it is included in the list of the best semi-urban beaches in Spain.

The people of Chiclana divide it into tracks. The first track is notable for its promenade which has restaurants, shops, leisure areas and gardens. Let’s say that it is the most popular and frequented. The second track is the residential area, and the third is home to most of the hotels in the Novo Sancti Petri development, a real economic booster zone for the entire Bay of Cadiz area. The fourth and most recent track is called Loma de Sancti Petri, although new hotels have already been built, there are still natural dunes and native vegetation.

On La Barrosa beach you can find a multitude of beach bars where you can have a few beers, have a vermouth at midday or have a few drinks at sunset. We would like to highlight 3 of them here, Mojama and Coconovo Beach, open all year round, and Atenas Playa, open only in the summer, which has Balinese beds, excellent food and dreamy sunsets.

La Barrosa beach is an environment in which you can enjoy the sea by walking along its kilometres of sand and leaving it at dusk after the sun sets. We recommend it.
