A few years ago I discovered this restaurant belonging to the El Roqueo family, when it was not yet a well-known restaurant in the province of Cadiz. Today, it has become a reference restaurant in the Bay of Cadiz, especially in the area of ​​Conil de la Frontera, where it is located.

It is nestled on a cliff next to the Atlantic, with stunning views of the beaches of Conil de la Frontera and the Lighthouse of Puerto de Conil. Its sunsets are particularly noteworthy, they will surprise you. It is a magical place, where you can take the best photos of your vacation.

As for its cuisine, its typical dishes from the area stand out, its traditional cuisine and some dishes from its renewed menu where they have wanted to go a little further. All its dishes are made with fresh products that come directly from the Conil market. Seafood, fish, vegetables, local stews and rice are the stars of its menu.

Of its starters, be sure to try the tuna in butter and the guacamole toast with anchovy. Among their salads, very well prepared, although very limited in quantity, are the octopus salad, and the smoked ones, cheese and nuts. Their scrambled eggs are also outstanding, although I am going to recommend a very original one, the one with shrimp and roasted peppers, with fried egg added.

Like any self-respecting restaurant in the area, their fried foods stand out: cuttlefish, squid, diced sea bass and shrimp omelettes. As for rice, don’t forget to order the seafood rice, their main specialty, as well as the rice with prawns.

The seafood menu stands out, especially the house clams or the Tio Pepe clams. As for fish, I recommend the stuffed squid, the grilled red mullet and the fish of the day in salt. They have a special tuna menu, highlighting the tartar and grilled tuna neck.

From their extensive wine cellar, we recommend a wine from Conil, specifically from the El Palmar area from the Sancha Pérez Winery, which is very well priced and exquisite. From their desserts, we highlight the soft eggs, especially if you have a sweet tooth, a delicacy from the area.

Don’t forget to book well in advance, in summer it is a very popular place, especially if you want a table next to the windows, and to be very close to the sea.

You may be surprised, but for me it is one of the most beautiful places when it rains and the sea is rough.
