It is located between Cádiz and San Fernando, right on the parallel to the CA33 road. We could say that it is one of the best urban beaches in Andalucía.
It stands out for its fine sand and crystalline water, although moderately cold (typical of the Atlantic Ocean). It has a parking area along the beach and several parking bays arriving at the end of Torregorda, where a military barracks is located.
Cortadura beach connects Cádiz with the Iberian Peninsula. At the moment it is one of the three accesses to Cádiz, in addition to the Carranza Bridge and the new La Pepa bridge, inaugurated a few years ago.
It is a unique, different and protected beach. It is a natural and urban beach, with a single construction halfway between Cádiz and Torregorda, the “Ventorrillo del Chato”, as well as the Nohu Beach bar, where you have good food and excellent cocktails, in addition to their concerts during sunset.
It is very common to see hundreds of people from the road crossing the rocky area, similar to a reef that is exposed when low tide occurs, especially boys and girls. Like other beaches in the province, it has a beautiful lunar cordon, whose Easterly wind blows over the road.
When the Easterly wind blows strong it is impossible to be on the beach, it is possibly the only inconvenience. The beach has services that make it a comfortable beach with all the advantages of the European blue flag.
It has a length of four kilometers and an average width of 60 meters. From Torregorda you can walk to “Santa María del Mar” beach (in Cádiz), passing through the Cortadura walls (where a military residence is located).
At the height of “Ventorrillo El Chato” and in the direction of San Fernando, the beach has a nudist area, in fact, since it is not overcrowded and removed from the center of Cádiz, it is usually very frequented by topless beachgoers, or people looking for the tranquility and solitude.
We recommend that you eat at “El Chato”, and in the afternoon you don’t miss the sunset at Nohu Beach Bar. You will come back.
