Last week I was having dinner with some friends, and I was surprised, and that I am extremely loyal to El Campero, restaurant in Barbate”, but this restaurant left a good impression on me.

It is located in the Blas Infante square in the heart of Conil de la Frontera.

It was launched in July 2019 by well-known people in the area, including the popular Mauro Barreiro and the firm specialized in tuna “Petaca Chico”, which is the main promoter of the establishment.

If they wanted to become a reference point for tuna without having to go to Barbate, they have succeeded. They perfectly combine tuna with local products, and highlights the daring of some of the dishes. They also have octopus and swordfish dishes.

It has a terrace and inside they have a lounge and high tables. One of the things that attracts the most attention is that its kitchen is open to the public and if you are at the bar you can  perfectly see how they prepare their dishes.

Its staff is very nice, they offer and treat you as if their life depended on it.

Regarding wine we went with the known options, without seeing the menu we decided on “white of white” from Barbadillo wineries, which is available in Manuela’s wine cellar.

We decided to select dishes to share, the menu is exquisite and full of revolutionary and daring dishes.

I do not know if it is convenient for me to recommend some of the dishes because it depends on the taste of each one, but you should definitely try, the white tail tartare with egg, the tuna tacos, the orange sirloin, the stewed tuna tail with chickpeas, the tuna loin in strips, etc., the list is endless.

And special attention is given to their desserts created by Mauro, try the egg flan version and don’t forget their cheesecake, mandatory in every restaurant.
