Bolonia beach

2 Jan 2025

It is located in the Natural Park of the Strait in Tarifa, and very close to the Baelo Claudia archaeological site, in fact it is one of its attractions. Remember that admission is free and it has been declared a National Historic Monument. You have to visit it.

Bolonia beach is considered one of the most beautiful and wildest in Spain. Its natural environment is impressive, and especially its fine white sand typical of the province of Cádiz, without forgetting its clear and transparent water.

The beach is 4 kilometers long and between 70 or 80 meters wide.

We recommend going early in the morning, especially if you go in summer, although there are several parking areas, they fill up very easily. Having a place to park your car is essential, otherwise you will have to turn around. Avoid going on weekends in August.

Bolonia is well known for its dune system that is mobile fundamentally by the action of the winds, especially the east Easterly wind, a strong wind typical of the Cádiz area. The wind constantly invades the pine trees that surround it. It is like a show, for this reason you have to go up and see it for yourself. It is more than 30 meters high and 300 meters wide.

The Dune of Bolonia is very crowded, and on summer days you will not be surprised to see groups of people dropping by it. Perhaps it is one of the most uploaded photos to social networks during the Summer. In addition, it is one of the must-sees that you cannot miss. We recommend that you visit it at sunset, and tell us about the experience.

In the same area you can enjoy good restaurants with fresh local fish, “Retinto” meat and excellent organic vegetables.
